A well deserved start studded tribute to John Barry is in the works.

Contact Music Stars To Pay Tribute To Bond Composer Barry
Stars including Dame Shirley Bassey, Sir Michael Caine and former James Bond actor Timothy Dalton have signed up to appear at a tribute concert dedicated to late 007 composer John Barry.

The Oscar-winning musician, who wrote iconic theme tunes for 11 Bond films including From Russia with Love and You Only Live Twice, died at the age of 77 in January (11) after suffering a fatal heart attack in New York.

A memorial show will be held in his honour at London's Royal Albert Hall this summer (11) and organisers have announced a star-studded line-up.

The concert will feature performances from Bassey, who famously sang Barry's Diamonds Are Forever and Goldfinger, and tenor Alfie Boe, while the composer's music will be played by Britain's Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in a programme devised by Barry's widow Laurie and current Bond music chief David Arnold.

The event will also see tributes from Caine, Dalton and Sir George Martin, who scored the soundtrack for 1973 Bond film Live and Let Die while Barry was on hiatus.

Proceeds from the show will help fund a film composition scholarship set up in Barry's name at London's Royal College of Music.

The concert will take place on 20 June (11).

Roger Moore injured in fall

Former James Bond Roger Moore is hobbling around on crutches after injuring himself on a movie set in Romania.

The 83-year-old actor was hurt after tripping over a set of wires while shooting the upcoming comedy Christmas at Castlebury Hall last month. Three electricians also fell in the on-set accident, crushing the veteran star.

But his agent Jean Diamond is adamant Roger will make a full recovery, insisting: "He is relaxing quietly at home. He'll be on his feet in no time
Sir Roger has always been classic act and a hard worker giving his all when he is on the set. We hope he has a quick and full recovery so he can be back doing what he does best.
Get well soon Mr Bond!

If this is information correct then most believe the pair could only be heading to Africa to scout locations for Bond 23.

Still unresolved is the situation of MGM finding a distributor and partner for Bond 23, indications are Sony will partner up with MGM but as of yet no deal has been signed.

Henry Cavill reveals his desire to take over the James Bond

Henry Cavill, the new Man of Steel has long been a favored contender for the role of James Bond among Bond fans, today he has brightened the day of many fans in an interview with IGN.

Henry Cavill On Superman Excitement And Re-Imagining; Reveals Desire To Play 007!
It seems like WonderCon was all about the new Man of Steel, as two more video interviews feature the actor promising that the reboot sticks closely to the source material and his interest in taking over as James Bond...
In an interview with IGN Movies, the actor talked more about his excitement with being cast in Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman: The Man of Steel, but most interestingly reveals his desire to take over the James Bond franchise as soon as current 007, Daniel Craig, is finished."

For those who are not aware Henry Cavill was the leading contender for James Bond in 2005. Reports are he narrowly missed the role despite being a favorite of many involved in the production, including the director. Surly a missed opportunity that all fans can regret, thankfully Henry appears to be eager to take on this much cherished role if the opportunity presents itself.

Bond, Jane Bond.....

Deadline.com James Bond in Drag: Bad Idea calls the International Women's Day short film featuring the characters James Bond 007 and his boss M "the very definition of ill-advised". Produced by Barbara Broccoli, perhaps it is also the very definition of what is wrong with the franchise today.

Link: Washington Post Online
The video - narrated by actress Judi Dench, recreating her role as spymaster M - notes Bond's "fondness for women" but asks if the spy has "ever considered what it might like to be one."
A silent Bond reappears on camera and strikes a seemingly confident pose in drag. As M rattles off statistics on sexual violence, education and pay inequality, Craig pulls off the wig and earrings.
He exits the screen when asked "So, are we equals?"

What seems to have upset Bond fans the most is this film short is it is not Daniel Craig and Judi Dench preforming as themselves or other characters, rather as Ian Fleming's creations.

November 2010 -Bond 23 Starting to Take Shape?

Is the long winter finally coming to an end? Well maybe. This is the most recent of several stories speculating Daniel may well be leaving Bond to pursue other projects.
While we will look for more solid confirmation this is a hopeful sign James Bond may actually be returning.
MGM plans new Bond film - but there's talk of going back to a more lighthearted 007
By Sophie Taylor
LAST UPDATED 10:11 AM, NOVEMBER 8, 2010

News that Spyglass Entertainment is hoping to buy out the bankrupted MGM studio has led to speculation that the much delayed new Bond film can finally be made. But it now looks very possible that we'll see a new actor replacing Daniel Craig as James Bond.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, a newly constituted MGM would hope to have the film - working title Bond 23 - in cinemas by autumn 2012.

With the film's start having been constantly delayed because of the uncertainties at MGM, Craig recently signed up for another franchise - playing the investigative journalist Mikael Blomkvist in the The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and its sequels.

Now that Bond 23 is suddenly back on the front burner, Craig is thought to be unlikely to be able to take on the role.

But there's more to it than that, according to a report in the News of the World which claims that producers want to think again about what James Bond should look like in the 2010s.

Insiders say that producers favour going back to a more lighthearted Bond - as both Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan depicted him - rather than the edgy style chosen by Craig in the two most recent films, Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.

"The plan is to return to the 007 format we all know and love," one unnamed executive was quoted as telling the News of the World. "There will be lots more sexy Bond girls. As for James, we'd like a return to a more suave, charming and lighthearted Bond. We're not sure if Daniel will be available."

Whether Craig would want to be available if that's the way they see it is unlikely.

Critics have generally admired the intelligence Craig has brought to the role - more so in Casino Royale than the less favoured follow-up - and few have missed the corny banter and jokey style of Moore and Brosnan.

A spokesman at Bond producer Barbara Broccoli's London office was unable to comment on the speculation.

Dame Dench is not a fan of 'Quantum of Solace'

An interview with Judi Dench circa 2004 revealed she is not a fan of method acting, and now it appears the plot of Bond 22 'Quantum of Solace' has left her cold as well.

Dame Judi Dench shares Bond fans' frustration over "Quantum of Solace" - because she struggled to follow the plot too.
She tells Britain's The Times Magazine, "Yes, I know, it was hard, wasn't it? I didn't have a clue what was going on. I just did my bit, as I was told. I should know though, shouldn't I, being all-knowing, all-seeing M."

Rachel Weisz And Daniel Craig's Dream House Collapsing?

Before they were an item romantically speaking they were casting. Recent reports of the last few days are Craig is now in Canada doing the much needed re-shoots.

Cinema Blend reported trouble with the foundation of Craig's dream house.

Rachel Weisz And Daniel Craig's Dream House Collapsing? With James Bond in permanent limbo the next place you’ll be able to see Daniel Craig is opposite Rachel Weisz in a Jim Sheridan thriller called Dream House. Or at least that would be the next place you’d be able to see him if the movie didn't seem to be in the midst of some sort of coronary arrest.

The thing is Dream House is actually finished and in the can, but we heard a few weeks ago from one of our sources that there were problems and that they might be headed for reshoots this month. Now it seems that may not happen and that leaves the movie well, who knows where. Pop Goes The News confirms that reshoots were the plan, but says that Daniel Craig is now too busy shooting Girl with the Dragon Tatoo to do them and that they’ve been cancelled.

What we've heard from our sources who've seen it, is that the current version of Dream House is kind of a mess. Specifically they say the mystery is predictable and made even more so by Naomi Watts' character, who's fairly secondary anyway. Our source says, "Craig and Weisz try their best but they are working with weak material, which is a predicable mess and some of the other acting, which ranges from slumming it to down right being laughably bad." Presumably these are some of the things they wanted to fix with reshoots, but if they can't do that, then what Universal's left with is a bad movie which would have to compete with another movie with the same premise which maybe isn't bad. Why bother to release it? At least that's the question I’d be asking right now if I were Universal.
